CORONATION THE CONGRESS STYLE

As usual, Gujarat and Uttarakhand had gone the BJP way, much to the chagrin or discomfiture of congenital MODI haters from across the Indian Society, the prime place being taken by Press and Media of all hues in the name of elitist modern thinking 24/7 on their part, finding ways to support anti-BJP forces initially AAP subsequently, now, somehow to resurrect Congress and its unholy partners, on any basis be it division on the basis of caste and the longstanding minority versus majority issues from left to the so called all other democratic forces, a misnomer for brazen anti-India stance deliberately taken. The disinformation campaign that has been going on across media, social sites not excluded, to vilify the present dispensation at the center speaks volumes about the current situation.

It was inexcusable on the part of Mr. Rahul Gandhi to not confine to his business of minding his party and its workers than vomit uncalled for venom on Prime Minister very directly, on a lifetime event(for himself) of his coronation as president of a party older, nearly three times his age. This conveys enough of the jitters that the leader and the grand old party are in, at the present moment. Unfortunately the Congress party, identified with freedom movement and Independence is today being led by the most mediocre person, even if the expression is harsh. The whole speech by RAGA was nothing more than elaborate expression of personal agony following incessant loss of poll after poll with latest two in waiting. Who can come to his rescue? The effort is inadequate by leaders surrounding him, who jealousy protect him from public glare and control damage by the so called stalwarts like, ABHISHEK MANUSINGHVI, P.CHIDAMBARAM and KAPIL SIBAL, at the cost of personal reputation that they might possess.

What an ignominy for a party, formed for achieving independence for country India, that was groaning for a couple of centuries, of slavery and under the tyranny of British hegemony, headed by stalwarts, starting from the founder to the greats like Gopal Krishna Gokhale, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose to Kama Raj and to, reluctantly say, INDIRA GANDHI, the last meritorious, had to elect or select the least qualified, unassuming (not by simplicity but by lack of self-esteem or party-esteem) and political clown of the country Mr. Rahul Gandhi as president. It was only a matter of time when this illustrious son of another mediocre, would assume the role of president of the grand old party or step into the shoes of his mother. Across the world, there might be political families producing leaders to play active role in the political arena but there is no history or precedent of such strangle hold of one family, on a political party and through the party (unfortunately identified with Independence) the whole of India, the second most populous country in the world, and its governance.

This coronation is, popularly believed, postponed indefinitely, for that eluding electoral victory to Rahul in any provincial, howsoever, small it might be like the state of Goa or Manipur, to be the occasion to pass on the mantle from mother to son. The defeats were complete and without break for the party and in the smaller states, where they were narrow, could not be maneuvered to come to power against a vigilant rival National party. Now too, after the exit polls which predicted whole sale victory to BJP in both Gujarat and Uttaranchal, more or less testified by the latest results, unable to postpone further, had to select this (neech kasam ka kusal or very low intelligent) Rahul Gandhi to the highest office of the party, just days before the results. True to the credentials of the person, an opportunity lost forever deliberately or willfully in an attempt to vying with larger than life sized MODI and his party, to take on verbally with use of vituperative language at will. A solemn coronation ceremony, which, ought to have been utilized to boost the low morale of party workers, to infuse new thoughts of vision for the party and the country and start off with a sort of re-dedication, was on the other hand, misused due to small mindedness and mal-intentions. Let the party and the leaders of the party Congress beware that, the meaner they become and spew uncalled for venom, the more their party distances itself from the people and may go down to just four from the present forty four in the next run-up to parliament in 2019, symbolizing simply not just a rout but complete decimation. Should this happen, God forbid, for the sake of genuine opposition, the congress party may soon become inconsequential to be of any reckoning even in states like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Gujarat also, where the rule was alternating between BJP and Congress. There is a belief system in the left thinking that when crisis deepens the ruler will not be able to rule democratically. History is that never this grand old party could digest people’s rejection to act like a responsible opposition but always was arrogant, as if the party part was born only to rule forever, this country. A bad precedent was set in the parliamentary democracy with this indecent behavior without rule, rhyme or decorum for the smaller parties to emulate in other states and vitiate the political atmosphere. Bereft of ideas, when Allahabad High Court unseated Indira Gandhi as Member of Parliament, for malpractices in the election, a leader born to a true democrat like Nehru had to become tyrant to clamp emergency and to suspend fundamental rights including right to life and become unpopular.

With no chance on the horizon to come into reckoning, if not coming to power anywhere in India, in the near future, the task on hand is onerous for the new leader to direct his idea or people’s idea (in his own words) to immediately stop MODI bashing and engage in constructive support to the Government and allow run both houses of parliament, in his own interests as well as peoples’ interests. Being an emotional person to tolerate day to day political developments, I could not but condemn Congress party and its leaders for their activities of past and present.
